The Lake Koman ferry is still NOT on it's regular schedule
and has NOT started running for the Spring & Summer seasons of 2012.
The small passenger boat is running and is available for travel. Leaving Fierzë around 6:00am and leaving Koman around 9:00am.
The boat departs the village of Koman everyday in the summer 9:00am. From the east side, it leaves the little village of Breglumas (near Fierze) at 7:00am. It costs 1200L per square meter to ferry a vehicle. If you plan to board a vehicle, you should be well ahead of schedule (1 hour at least), since it usually fills up to capacity.
Lake Koman is one of the largest artificial lakes in Albania being 72Km long and possessing a surface area of 8160ha and containing 40 coves and inlets. The lake was created in 1978 by the construction of the Fierza hydroelectric facility bordering on all three of the region’s districts of the region. The lake is formed by the Drini i Zi, Drini i Bardhe and Luma Rivers. It is home to 13 species of fish, molluscs, crabs, and amphibians.
There is no need to make a reservation for the ferry but make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before departure. The daily ferry schedule is: Leaves from Fierze at 7:00am, arrives at Koman at 9:00am. Leaves Koman at 9:00am and arrives back in Fierze at 11:00am. The ferries are usually very punctual and arrive in the locations on time. There will be minibus public transportation in both drop off points to take you to your next destinations. The minibus from Koman takes you to Shkoder (around 2 hours) and the minibus from Fierze takes you to the remote but beautiful city of Bajram Curri (around 45 minutes).
