The Shishtavec area is situated 31 km southeast of Kukes City and is accessed through the Vanave Gorge. Shishtavec is boasts beautiful, Alpine pastures and is considered a magnificent natural monument. The Shishtavec Highlands rest on a plateau that ranges between 900m and 2130m above sea level. A number of nature monuments have been identified in the area such as the “Guri i Mengjezit “ (Morning Stone; a big stone in the middle of the Morava Pastures), the Birch forest, and the oak plantation of Novesejit. Other areas of interest in Shishtavec are Kroi i Bardhe and Teja Highland. The Kroi i Bardhe and Teja Highland are beautiful, natural interests, where during the summer, more than 100 families stay for vacation on the grass-plot pastures.
The Shishtavec area contains; pastures, caves, and rare endemic plants and animals. The Kruma Highlands also offer beautiful landscapes, fresh air and is a favourite summer destination for local inhabitants. Environmental awareness concerning the need to protect and enhance the environment as part of an eco-tourism development plan has grown dramatically among the region's residents in the past few years.
